Julie Shaffer

Director, Center for Imaging Excellence, PIA/GATF

In her capacity as director of the Center for Imaging Excellence, Julie manages the state-of-the-art prepress lab, oversees PIA/GATF's internal prepress production workflow, teaches prepress-related workshops, and performs prepress consultations. She is one of the industry's best-known experts on the use of PDF files for printing, speaking frequently on the topic for design and printing audiences. She is the co-author of The PDF Print Production Guide, published by PIA/GATFPress, and writes numerous magazine articles on front-end issues like web-to-print and file preparation, delivery, and preflighting. Prior to joining PIA/GATF, she worked for printing companies and color trade shops in both Pittsburgh and Denver, serving in her last position as director of corporate electronic systems and integration.
