This week, Adobe shipped version 6.0 Photoshop Elements for Mac OS X. The release was announced in early January at MacWorld Expo and is now well on its way to users.
The Photomerge feature is gaining the most aha's from photogs and tech geeks alike. Using Photomerge enables users to create several similar images (several pics of the same smiling toddler for instance) and mark the best features of each photo, and then easily create a new image by merging those features. As an aside, it will be interesting to see how the celeb paparazzi uses this tool!
In the latest release Adobe also offers users improved conversion features which lets users convert color images into black and white images. Users will also enjoy the customization features for layout of memory books, online albums and scrapbook pages. Version 6.0 also features batch adjustment capabilities.
The program also enables improved organizational control for photos, by letting users tag photos with custom keywords, sort photos by name, date, rating and label pics for more expedient retrieval.
The Mac OS-based program runs on Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger and Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. It's priced at $90 and upgrades are priced at $70. For a feature by feature comparison of the latest release go to Adobe's site.
