callas software has announced the release of pdfToolbox 5.3. This maintenance release of callas' PDF correction and preflight tool adds support for Mac OS X Lion, and provides full compatibility with the most recent version of the Adobe PDF Library.

One of the most important changes to pdfToolbox is that it allows publishers to restrict the area rendered when generating images to an existing page box. This change will means that they can generate review versions without having to output different PDF files. Other fixes and updates include more preflight checks, along with support for Japanese publishers, including support for adding and recognizing Japanese printer marks. A full list of changes is available from the callas homepage..

Existing users can obtain this update as a free upgrade.
