UPDATED: With Adobe's recent announcement of Acrobat 7, the topics covered in this session will include new features and functionality in Acrobat 7, Adobe Reader 7, Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7 and how these products integrate with Adobe LiveCycle tools.

Adobe Systems is offering a series of free, English-language Acrobat Developer Workshops in London, Munich and Paris during the week of November 22, targeting developers who are currently working with PDF and/or XML, or are interested in developing with PDF and/or XML.

This full-day workshop -- led by Lori DeFurio, Adobe's Developer Evangelist -- will introduce new functionality of Adobe's LiveCycle software tools from a developer perspective. Examples of integration with desktop and server tools will be presented, and each attendee will receive a CD-ROM complete with evaluation versions of Adobe's PDF/XML developer tools, sample code and more.

  • Learn more about how PDF, XML, and Java can work together to simplify data capture and document generation within your enterprise applications.
  • Learn how easy it can be to design and integrate PDF/XML forms using the latest technology from Adobe -- what once took hours can now be done in minutes or seconds.
  • Review implementation examples created with Adobe LiveCycle, the company's new Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) line of server and design tools software.

Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader

  • Understand how to extend Acrobat and/or Adobe Reader.
  • Learn more about creating Intelligent Documents that contain interactivity, form data and multimedia.

Collating PDFs using JavaScript

Despite the numerous benefits, there can be potential issues with the conversion of paper documents into electronic archives. When scanning paper pages into PDF, it's possible to end up with the odd- and even-numbered pages in separate PDF files. It can be very time-consuming to collate them manually, but there is an easier way. Sean Stewart explains.
