This week in PDF has seen an update to a PDF creation engine, the release of an open source PDF library, and the acceptance of a new Adobe Solution Provider.
First up, activePDF has the released a new version of its PDF generation engine. By integtating activePDF Server 2009, developers can build PDF creation functionality into their own applications. Features added in the new version include: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 compatibility, 64-bit support, a .NET Native API and support for generating PDF/A and PDF/X output. Trial versions of the software may be downloaded from the activePDF website, and the product is currently available for purchase online through the company's online store as well as through its worldwide network of software resellers and distributors.
In other developer news, ICEsoft Technologies has announced a new addition to its open source product portfolio. ICEpdf, ICEsoft's Java PDF library and engine, is now available under the MPL open source license. ICEpdf is a lightweight open source Java PDF rendering library that can be integrated within any Java-based client application or deployed on a server in headless mode as a PDF servlet (JSP or JSF). Supporting the release, ICEsoft has also launched a new community website. The site provides forum support for community users, demo's, as well as user documentation and other product related information. ICEpdf is licensed under the Mozilla Public License (MPL) and is available for immediate download.
Last but not least, Anark Corporation has recently been accepted as an Adobe Systems Incorporated Solution Partner. Adobe's Solution Partner Program is designed for companies that provide solution-based sales, system integration, services, or extended products based on Adobe technology. Anark's solutions harness the capabilities of Adobe LiveCycle and Adobe Acrobat software.
