Innumerable toolbars, icons and menus can really get in the way if you are settling down with a good eBook or giving that document, memorandum or brochure a final once-over before sending it out or posting to a website. Here are a few tips on reducing screen clutter and streamlining the reading process:
Hide toolbars. The F8 key toggles the visibility of toolbars. Hide toolbars to concentrate on reading and reveal them when you need to use the tools to process the document.
Hide the Menu Bar. The F9 key toggles the visibility of the Menu Bar. As with toolbars, the Menu Bar can be hidden to reduce screen clutter or revealed when menu items are required.
Use full-screen mode. Full-screen mode can be toggled with a keyboard shortcut: Ctrl-L on Windows or Function-L on Mac systems. When full-screen mode is active, you won't see any toolbars, menus or other interactive icons.
Automatic scrolling. Holding Ctrl-Shift-H (Windows) or Function-Shift-H (Mac) activates automatic scrolling. The Up and Down arrow keys can be used to regulate the scrolling speed and direction.
