Having used Acrobat for many years now, I've gotten used to using keyboard shortcuts to do many PDF actions. The reason that most people don't use Acrobat more -- in my opinion -- is that they find it awkward to work with. In other words, they don't know the important keyboard shortcuts.
Learning the keyboard shortcuts takes a bit of time; mostly, you have to train yourself to use them instead of the mouse. But once you make these shortcuts a habit you'll find that using Acrobat is actually easier than working with paper.
