In the world of PDFs or as we like to say Planet (of) PDF, a year isn't a real PDF year without an intense few days of industry knowledge sharing.
In years gone by, these events used to be hotting up around the place like wildfire; in places like San Francisco, New York, Washington, Korea, Australia and the like. At that time, being run by Seybold Seminars, PDF Conference, and other smaller local groups. Times change, with the advent of easy internet-based “events” with products like GoToMeeting, it's a lot harder for attendees to justify almost a week of activity, including costs of flights, hotels, meals and the event itself.
Of course, that said, when it comes to getting nitty gritty stuff about the future of PDF, then PDF Association, the group leading PDF guidance and innovation, provides a real source of arm's length industry catch-ups in this year's PDF Days Europe 2018 (Berlin).
Now, almost 25 years after the first PDF file was created, what's big for this year? I'll give you a hint, it's one of the biggest discussions ever on the PDF round table as 5 industry leaders, Catherine Andersz (PDFTron), Richard Cohn (Adobe), Harald Grumser (Compart), Carsten Heiermann (Foxit) and Duff Johnson (PDF Association) present their ideas for the next 25 years of PDF in a session titled "Five Visions of a PDF Future".
