Editor's Note: Formerly CEO of Planet PDF, Karl De Abrew is now the CEO of Debenu (www.debenu.com) -- maker of the Quick PDF Library (formerly iSEDQuickPDF | QuickPDF) (www.quickpdflibrary.com), a powerful royalty-free PDF developer SDK, and Benubird Pro, the easy-to-use personal document management system.

Well, I'm disappointed to hear that Carl Young won't be running his annual PDF Conference in the fall of 2006. However, I'm equally delighted to hear that the team at Tech Ed Solutions Conference 2006 have stepped up to the plate and will be running their own focused PDF (and Document Management) event from 6-9 November, 2006.

And for once they're going to be catering to a crowd other than those on the East or West coasts -- the event will be held in Council Bluffs, IA. Given the Midwest location, I'm especially looking forward to catching up with attendees from nearby cities like Des Moines and Kansas City.

Whist all of these conferences sound like they have same sorts of programs, in practice, each has a different bent. Personally, I'm hoping to learn a little myself, given that the show is going to cover a broader range of topics that includes general document management-related issues rather than just PDF.

I've pencilled the date into my calendar and I'm looking forward to moderating the Power Panel (fast-paced PDF questions and answers). And I'm going to be joined by conference regulars, Ted Padova, Thom Parker, Leonard Rosenthal, Bob Connolly, Franklin Garner, and Lori DeFurio.

If you're in the area, might I suggest you check out the Tech Ed Solutions site and stay tuned -- I'll report more on the event as it happens.
