iAnnotate PDF has become the first iPad app to be required in Stanford University's medical school. The app is being used as a teaching and collaboration tool, allowing users to take notes, highlight and underline in PDF documents, and share annotated PDFs via email, iTunes sync, Dropbox or VGA output.

Jim Brink, the founder of Aji, said that the company has "been working with Stanford to improve live note-taking and automatic distribution of lecture materials to their students". In the classroom teachers can use the app to grade and return work; enterprise users can put it to work in paperless collaboration.

iAnnotate PDF 1.2 costs $9.99 USD from the App Store in the Productivity category. Read more at Aji's home page or watch the app in action on YouTube.
