Denver-based Quark Inc., announced the release of QuarkXPress 8.1 now available to existing QuarkXPress 8 users as a free download from the site.
The latest update also improves PDF output capabilities and adds new features for streamlining the page layout process, according to the company.
The release also introduces a 'Native Transparency' mode for creating PDFs for more flexible PDF output support.
"Greater control of transparency in PDF is becoming increasingly important to our users: enabling output providers to control processes like flattening, optional content and color management further downstream through native transparency and layer support within PDF is a support for us," said Dan Logan, Product Manager for QuarkXPress.
The program is also available for download a free, fully functional 60-day Test Drive at Quark.com.
