This week in PDF has seen updates to a pair of PDF creation products and a new product added to the new Enfocus 08 solution suite. In addition, Planet PDF founder Karl De Abrew's new company has released a new weblog about digital documents.
First up, Antenna House has launched a major update of its Rainbow PDF Server-Based Converter. Version 2.0 of the software can now transform Microsoft Office 2007 files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to PDF and SVG on the fly. Speaking of PDF creation, Software602 has also released a major update to its PDF conversion software. Print2PDF 8.0 allows users to create a PDF document from any application that can print, process multiple documents for batch conversion, watch a folder or POP3 e-mail account for documents, use a simple web application, or integrate web service into their existing infrastructure. The product's Save As dialog also provides a one-click way to create a PDF document conforming to standards such as long term archive standard ISO 19005-1 PDF/A. Also this week, Enfocus has added a new product to its PDF-based 08 solution suite, originally showcased at this year's Drupa conference. Instant PDF 08 simplifies the process of creating error-free, printable PDF files and for printers to benefit from reduced cycle time in the production process. Enfocus Senior VP Peter Camps said, "We are excited to be showing these enhancements to the U.S. market at Graph Expo."
For PitStop Professional 08 users, Acrobat 9 compatibility is being made available as no-charge upgrades for all 08 users. The latest versions of PitStop Professional, PitStop Server, Instant PDF and the Switch product family, as well as fully-functional trial versions of all Enfocus products, are available for download from the Enfocus website.
