This week in PDF has seen updates to a PDF 3D solution and an electronic document distribution tool.
First up, PDF-eXPLODE version 2 was released this week, according to United Data Strategies, the product's US distributor. Using a printer interface, PDF-eXPLODE can convert an individual document or mail merge file into a batch of individual PDF attachments and securely email them to designated recipients. Highlights of the new version are support for mail merging and dynamic file naming. For more information, read the full press release announcing the update.
Also updated this week was a developer toolkit for integrating 3D content into PDF documents. Visual Technology Services has released version 1.7.0 of its PDF3D SDK. The new version adds Transient Scientific Model sequences, Articulated Rigid Body Animation and the ability to embed a control bar inside PDF documents to control animations.
