This week in PDF sees the launch of PDF export feature for an online document editor, the release of a developer kit that allows for the injection of 3D content into PDF files and the introduction of a tool for reliable transparency flattening.
First up, Google has added PDF support to the presentations component of Google Docs. The upshot of this is that users can now save their presentation in PDF format for offline use or archival. The update also includes PDF printing functionality that allows for the printing of presentation handouts with up to 12 slides per sheet. In other PDF news, Gradual Software and callas software today released SWITCH 07 update 3 with support for callas software pdfAutoOptimizer. The maintenance update for SWITCH introduces a number of smaller features and fixes, but also for the first time makes flattening of live transparencies available through the use of callas pdfAutoOptimizer on Mac OS X and Windows. Until the end of March, callas pdfAutoOptimizer for SWITCH is available at a special introductory price. Gradual SWITCH update 3 and callas pdfAutoOptimizer are available immediately.
