This week in PDF has seen the releases of an online PDF security solution for small businesses, a service pack for a range of PDF-based 3D products and an update to an Adobe product suite.
First up, Vitrium Systems has launched its online software service, protectedpdf Small Business Edition (SBE). The solution comprises SaaS (Software as a Service) PDF protection that does not require readers to download and install viewer plug-ins. The service is accessed entirely via the Internet and requires no software installations or downloads. Users simply login to the SBE Web site and start protecting PDFs. In update news, QuadriSpace today announced the release of Service Pack 3 for its Document3D series of products. The update adds support for publishing 3D PDF documents with embedded large models and introduces new tools for importing BOMs from CAD tools or PDM databases. Last but not least, Adobe Systems has released version 2 of its Technical Communication Suite. According to the press release, "Using the suite, technical communicators can create documentation, training materials and Web-enabled user assistance containing both traditional text and 3D designs along with rich media, including Adobe Flash Player compatible video, AVI, MP3 and SW file support." The latest version includes Adobe FrameMaker 9, Adobe RoboHelp 8, Adobe Captivate 4, Adobe Photoshop CS4, Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and Adobe Presenter 7. For more, check out Adobe.com.
