This week in PDF has seen an update to a PDF password-recovery tool.
The new version of Eltima Software's Recover PDF Password offers a simplified interface. It enables Mac users to drag and drop a PDF file protected with only an owner password (i.e. the file has no user password protection) into the app, press the "Decrypt" button and save an unencrypted copy of the document.
The decryption option is still available when a PDF file is protected with unknown user password (or both user and owner password). The software can search for the appropriate password, and the decryption option can then be used to create unprotected copies. The software allows users to recover passwords by password length, using templates or via exhaustive search.
Recover PDF Password also supports Unicode passwords recovery for Acrobat 9.x files, and is available from the official vendor website.
OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
