This week in PDF has seen major updates to a simple PDF creation tool and a PDF creation, viewing and editing suite, while Adobe inks a new deal which will see it providing online demonstrations of Adobe Acrobat Professional.
First up, Global Graphics has launched Version 2.0 of the Jaws PDF Desktop Suite. The new version adds platform support for Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007 to the PDF creation and editing application. The suite combines Jaws PDF Creator and Jaws PDF Editor into a single executable, with combined features spanning high-quality PDF creation, assembly, merge, mark-up and forms-fill. In other PDF creation news, Solid Documents has released version 2.0 of its PDF creation utility. Solid PDF Creator Plus 2.0 allows users to work with multiple PDFs simultaneously through its intuitive WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) user interface. Users can rearrange, delete or add PDF pages or even create ISO 19005-1 PDF/A-1b compliant files. More information on the product can be found on the Solid Documents web site.
Finally, Adobe has signed a pilot agreement to trial Runaware's TestDrive online demonstration service with its flagship product, Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional. During the 90-day trial, Runaware states that Adobe will evaluate the performance of the TestDrive system and the popularity of the trials compared to other trial methods. According to the press release, Acrobat Professional will be the first software of its kind to be made available on the TestDrive service. The TestDrive demo will be available from Adobe.com and via targeted e-mail campaigns.
