This week in PDF sees the announcement of the CRE8 conference, to be co-located with AGI Training's PDF event, the release of a PDF-based mapping bundle and an update to a Mac OS X PDF RIP.

First up, Aquent Graphics Institute (AGI) has partnered with the Creative Professional Association to deliver the CRE8 conference for creative, marketing, and communications professionals. The CRE8 conference will be co-located with AGI's Acrobat & PDF Conference in Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Fla., from May 9-10, 2007. Attendees will now be able to attend sessions in both events, allowing for a wide variety of possible courses through the seminar sessions for delegates with an interest in both areas. To find out more, visit the Acrobat & PDF Conference and CRE8 Conference Web sites.

In case you think you might have trouble finding your way around, never fear! TerraGo Technologies has announced that it will bundle several of its mapping solutions used to create and distribute specialized GeoPDF with a manufacturers suggested retail price (MSRP) of $2,295. The bundle includes the users choice of MAP2PDF for ArcGIS or GeoMedia as the GeoPDF creation tool and MAP2PDF for Acrobat as well as a map assembler tool which allows users to combine multiple GeoPDF files into layered PDF documents. The package also features GeoMark Enable which gives users a collaborative environment for commenting and the ability to export those comments from Adobe Reader to GIS applications via an ESRI shape (.shp) file format. More details can be found on the vendor's Web site.

Finally, Fusion Systems International has released version 7.2 of the Fusion RIP for Mac OS X. This latest version of the RIP supports Apple's Mac-Intel hardware as well as PowerPC hardware. The new version builds on features introduced with the 7.0 RIP, including advanced in-RIP font emulation, full support for PDF/X-1a:2003 and PDF/X-3:2003 and the JDF 1.2 specification. Native support for Apple's Mac-Intel hardware and the latest versions of the OS X operating system is a key enhancement of the 7.2 release. Being Universal Binary compliant the new release can run on both the older Apple PowerPC hardware as well as all of the newest Apple hardware. Full release details can be found at www.FusionSystems.com.

That's it for this week. Watch this space!
