This week in PDF has seen an update to a tool that can convert PDF slideshows for viewing on iPods and the release of a moderate volume scanning solution.

First up, ZappTek has announced an update to its slideshow-to-iPod utility. iPresent It version 2.2 functions on Macintosh OS X and can be used to convert PowerPoint, PDF or Keynote presentations into slideshows that are synchronized with iPod units. This makes the product well-suited for doing presentations on the go, allowing users to present without needing to carry a bulkier laptop. The new version optimizes slideshows for viewing via an iPod, iPhone or Apple TV, creates slideshow images from Keynote, PowerPoint or PDF presentations, and can preview slides as they're converted into a slideshow. To find out more, check out the official vendor web site.

In other news, DocuLex has released a Microsoft Windows-based desktop application designed for use by document imaging professionals of all levels of proficiency. Office Capture provides a setup wizard enabling a quick-start to new scanning projects. Documents of interest are scanned, with the document metadata descriptions added at a later date. Document metadata entry is simplified with version 4's enhanced design focused on rapid entry and task completion. The final production step enables the OCR engine to analyze and create full text data, then generate searchable PDF files and output to DocuLex Archive Studio's WebSearch, or other Internet-enabled document management system.

"Designed to be utilize with TWAIN-driven production and desktop scanners, digital copiers/MFPs, facsimile and wide format scanning units, Office Capture is a convenient moderate volume document scanning, content indexing and image processing software program for users that desire a simple solution to quickly convert business documents to electronic files, archived and available on local and remote networks for storage and retrieval," comments Tim Nissen, Director of Marketing for DocuLex.
