Bret Thompson, chef and owner of LA's Milk restaurant on Beverly, has joined forces with the California Milk Processor Board to compile a set of dairy-based recipes for the holiday season.
Not only are the recipes designed to be inexpensive to prepare, the 10-page PDF recipe book also includes general tips on saving your milk money. According to the LA Times' "Daily Dish" blog, which is where I first encountered the recipe book:
The recipes, which include sweet potato gratin with sage; corn soup with pico de gallo; creamy green beans with caramelized onions and toasted almonds; and apple cranberry bread pudding, are all tailored to cost you 50 cents to 80 cents per person. Or in the popular parlance of today's cash-strapped reality: "less than that of a McDonald's value meal."
