In an article announcing "Adobe's Second Development Centre To Come Up This Year" (in India) is the first public mention we've seen associated with Adobe regarding the next major upgrade to Acrobat.

Adobe is moving up the start date for its expansion plans in India, in which it will double its R&D capacity in the country when completed in 2005. Accordingly, Adobe plans to begin "recruiting around 100 engineers during the current year at its India centre," according to Adobe India managing director Naresh Gupta. The news item adds:

"Adobe's India centre is also making significant contributions in Adobe Acrobat 7.0, currently under development. Mr Gupta claimed that there were around 60 engineers in India working on Acrobat."
