Five Across, Inc. today announced the immediate availability of InterComm, a workgroup collaboration application designed to streamline document workflow for distributed workgroups. InterComm offers centralized file management and an integrated instant messaging interface.
The best thing for PDF users, however, is that it allows for the creation of workgroups with their own network folders. Since there is only one copy of the document being viewed by all members, this can eliminate the version issues and email bloat that can result from email-based PDF review systems.
"Many group-oriented software products have failed because they impose a process on end users that is different from the way they work," observed Five Across CEO Glenn Reid, a veteran of Adobe Systems, where he worked on the PostScript language and gained in-depth experience with document creation and management. "People work in teams and collaborate around documents, and it's the obvious next step to 'put the file cabinet next to the water cooler' for managing document workflow."
