Topic: Embedded pdf viewer in my (distributed) software

UNCLE! I thought this was an extremely simple quest, but after hours on the web...
How can I add pdf viewing capability to a software package we sell-- We need to 1- show the pdf file in our window, not a separate window (the document is related to other objects we display) 2- print 3- our software needs to run off a CD on anybody's Win machine. That's all. The Adobe ActiveX Control would be perfect, except that I read all over everywhere not to use it; It isn't meant for developers. Unclear whether Adobe SDK could do this either. Could embed a browser window in our window and then use the OCX, but gee that's ugly!, 3rd party toolkits recommended? other solutions?? Surely this is common?
