We are encountering some truly strange
behavior with Acrobat Reader 6.0 inasmuch
as it seems the Reader 6.0 is failing to
recognize buttons created in PDF documents
that were made in Acrobat 4.05. When the
mouse is passed over the buttons, the cursor
does not change to indicate that the cursor
is located above an object that will respond.
The buttons will not respond at all in
Reader 6.0.
This is true regardless of whether:
1. The button fields contain ONLY menu
commands; OR
2. The button fields contain javascript; OR
3. The button fields contain both javascripts
AND menu commands.
We never have encountered this problem with
Acrobat Reader 5.0. Everythi9ng that got
made in Acrobat 4.05 worked perfectly in
5.0 Reader.
Is there some basic incompatability between
Reader 6.0 and files containing buttons
made prior to 5.0?
We have been informed that the bookmarks,
destinations, internal "links", and Weblinks
all work like they are supposed to work; but
NONE of the buttons work.
Have any of the rest of you encountered this?
If so, is this a basic incompatability as
to buttons made in 4.05 that has been
introduced into Ver. 6.0? Is this some kind
of bug in 6.0? Is there some option the
users must select in order to use buttons
made in previous versions of the Acrobat
Application?
Any possible light that any of you can shed
on this puzzle would be greatly appreciated.
And, if you have in fact encountered this
phenomenon, what is the remedy here?
Note: All feedback has come from users
who are using Windows 98 and above. No
MAC users are at issue here.
Thanks,
