The technology may have changed since I worked at an output
bureau a few years back. However, we spent ages looking at
reliable methods of outputting from Publisher.
In the end we found that it was so unpredictable and resulted in so
many problems that it worked out more economical to re-do the job
in a 'proper' application than mess with the Publisher file to make it
work.
We ended up refusing Publisher files outright, we nicknamed it
'Microsoft Punisher' in the end.
Maybe someone's solved the vast number of issues we
encountered, but for the record, that's what we did!
