What is the best way to set the appearance of hyperlinks in a PDF to ensure uniform viewing if differing viewers have different versions of Reader?

I noticed for a PDF made with Acrobat 6 Pro, hyperlinks with a blue underline appear in Reader 5 as a blue rectangle.

Can anyone suggest a resource discussing this problem?
