for background info see this entry in the Forms and FDF forum dated 1/13/04:
"Cannot TAB over a readonly page"
After making all of the fields on a page readonly=true and fillColor()=color.gray via JS in a checkbox (on the Mouse Up action), I am unable to TAB over that page to the remaining pages.
I have tried to use regular expressions and custom keystroke detection (with no results)but that's what is basically going on when you TAB from one field to the next anyway.
The only unusual activity that I recognize (other than the fact that TAB doesn't work) is when I press ESC. Normally, after pressing ESC, no field has focus. When you TAB after an ESC, focus is set to the first field on the page you ESC'ed from. In this instance however, when I press ESC, it functions like the TAB key in setting focus to the next available field (3 pages later), with one minor exception. The little gray dots around the field that indicate focus are not present. However, the fillColor is there that I have selected for an onfocus_ action.
Apparently I have set a flag/property somewhere that I am unaware of because the second set of pages that are grayed out by the checkbox JS can be TABBED across just fine.
Can anyone provide guidance/suggestions? The time is drawing near where I will have to scrap the entire 22 page form and start from scratch because of this one anomaly.
