Topic: ___ Ăşţ,ĂŞŢ - IS MS WORD BETTER THAN ACROBAT? (Via Email), 1 Attachments

Ăşţ,ĂŞŢ. This is a test message in romanian characters. If I print it from MS Word 2000 with ANY settings to the Acrobat Distiller 6.0 everything is fine (for both Arial and Arial CE).

I have the same characters with Arial CE in Quark Xpress Passport 6.0 and Adobe Page Maker. There's no combination of options that can get those letters right. Print, export to PDF, export to PostScirpt, replace font with FontIncluder, create PDF. None of them work. (I have a win2000 system).

Moreover, Acrobat shows me that the fonts embedded from Word on one side and the others (Quark, PageMaker) on the other side are the same, as well as the encoding (ArialMT/ANSI) however the one from word shows TrueType while from the others Type1. When I check the font it says True Type.
Is there a reasonable explanation to this???

For years and years, many have predicted the decline of the PDF given its age and perceived disadvantages. Today, with the PDF losing ground in emerging areas like mobile and eBooks, the calls for its ultimate demise are growing louder.
