Get rid of all plugins except the following plug-ins/plug-in folders:

Annotations
ImageConversion
PaperCapture
AcroForm.api
EScript.api
ewh32.api
IA32.api
Search.api
TouchUp.api
weblink.api

(Just move everything else from the "plug_ins" folder to the folder "Optional" in the Acrobat Program Directory).

And then - read the following, if your problem refers to scanned PDF's...
