Does any body know how Acrobat Reader verfies the digital signature? I'm generating a signed PDF document using some api and verisign digital id.

As per PDF specs "PKCS#7 Signature Format syntax uses a PKCS#7 object to encapsulate the document signature and signer's X.509 certificates. The minimum required ertificate that is included in this object is the signer's X.509 verification (signing) certificate. The object may optionally contain one or more issuer certificates in the signer's certificate trust chain."

I created PKCS#7 object with X.509 certificate and actual signature. now when i opened my pdf in acrobat5.0 and try to verify the signature i'm getting mesg that the signature is invalid?

can any body tell me how Acrobat reader verifies signature and what it expects in signature->contents dictionary?

Thanks in advance.
