Anyone got any solution to this font embedding problem? In short, fonts are not behaving vis a vis embedding/subsetting as I would hav expected. Bear with me, it is a bit longwinded...
Acro Pro 6.01, Win XP SP1, No Type Manager or anything. Word 2002 (but am using File, Print, Adobe PDF anyway]
Have set up 3 new joboptions, based on 'Press Quality'
a) 1.5 PDF, Fonts = all embed and subset
b) 1.5 PDF, Fonts = all embed, but no subset
c) 1.5 PDF, Fonts = no embed
Have done a test file with the following fonts: Arial (Opentype); Times New Roman (Opentype]; Impact (Opentype]; Warnock* Pro Semi Bold (Opentype]; Poppl-Laudatio Regular (Type 1). All fonts installed on this machine.
Using Adobe PDF with the various job options gives:
a) 136k file (76% fonts); all fonts show up as Embedded Subset (in File, Doc Props)
b) 419k, (92% fonts); all fonts STILL show up as Embedded Subset, apart from Poppl-Laudatio and Warnock (show as Embedded)
c) 168k file, [80% fonts); rest of fonts show up as not being embedded, apart from Warnock which shows as Embedded
My Q's are:
in case of b) why do rest of fonts show up as still subsetted here - it is as if Times, Arial etc. cannot be fully embedded, only subsetted?
c) why is Warnock still being embedded? I was hoping for a nice small file size to demonstrate, and now I have c) bigger than a) !
And while we are on the subject, can anyone remind me why Arial become ArialMT when embedded/subsetted, and TNR become TNRPSMT?
Thanks
*could the answer be that the font, like the guy, just has to show up everywhere? ;O)
