The PDF support would have to come through browser plug-ins anyway.
Currently, there is NO browser support by Acrobat on OSX. Way back when
Acrobat 6 came out, there were some promises that when Safari becomes
final, something would become available (if you go through the archives
on PlanetPDF, you should find something). However, Safari is at version
1.2 now, and there is still no Acrobat browser plug-in.
The consequence of this is that it is possible to submit forms data
(even from Reader) on OSX, but there is no way anything from the server
can be fed into the document. And on-line commenting is something you
would have to go back to Netscape 4.7 and Acrobat 5.0 under Classic...
There is, however, a plug-in for browsers which allow to display PDFs.
This is the (in)famous plug-in from Mr. Schubert. This plug-in does
only cover the image level of the PDF, but nothing else (which means
that it is not possible to search, to fill out forms, or anything like
that). But it is a very fast utility to download PDFs (because it does
also not support byte-serving) which you then can save locally. And its
newest incarnation, together with the newest in Panther allows to
display PostScript files....
So, the situation is not really different from what it was eight months
ago...
