Help! PDF viewed on screen is different than when printed or when viewed in InDesign CS.

WinXP Pro, Acrobat 6.01, InDesign CS, Export from ID CS to PDF using "any" default selection. Document is one color (black). I've also tried print viewing hidden objects.

I have a black line that stretches from margin to margin in ID CS document master pages. Over this line is a page number with the bounding box set to "paper" to block out the line behind the page number on the master page. This is a B/W document, so "paper" is the correct setting.

The page viewed in ID CS shows the line correctly blocked out behind the page number and printing the PDF shows the line correctly blocked out behind the page number. BUT, viewing the PDF on screen, the line runs right through the page number! This PDF in going on a CD-ROM for distribution and I don't know how to fix this. This did not happen with ID 2.0 and Acrobat5.
