Prinergy handles CID-encoded fonts without any problem whatsoever.
Both Adobe and Creo stand behind that!
If your printer cannot "use" your PDF files exported from InDesign
because of the CID-encoded fonts, it is not because of Prinergy.
A few possibilities: (1) The printer has heard of problems with
CID-encoded fonts from other printers and is just waving you off
without knowing whether or not their systems can really handle
them. (2) The printer is using OTHER software in addition to
Prinergy which may be obsolete and not properly handling CID-encoded
fonts.
With regards to (the biggest in US) large printer, we are aware of
significant plant-to-plant inconsistencies of some of these large
printers in terms of what they claim to accept and/or how they
have actually setup and updated their workflows. Goes under "your
mileage may vary ..."
