A number of 3rd party companies also have their own PDF splitting plug-ins, which enhance the usability of splitting PDFs from Acrobat (e.g. split by bookmarks, retain links between documents, set a prefix filename, etc.).

ARTS PDF have a great range of PDF splitting tools, whether you need it on the desktop or server.
