Topic: Stopping a form submision

I know the title is a bit vague, but I culd think of anything better.

I have a form, on which I have a submit button. in the Actions for the submit button, I have it run a javascript to check to see if a single select drop-down has been altered from the default, if not display an alert, then setFocus on the drop-down.

After the JS action I have a submit form action, which of course submits the form.

Problem is, I don't want the form to submit if the alert appears/focus sets, so that the user has a chance to select something from the drop-down, then clicks the submit button to run through the cycle again.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
ryandoah
