Topic: Watched folder and ps file but no PDF.

I read several topic dealing with this subject but they rather old so I am asking this also.

Has anyone found a solution to the problem of trying to distill a ps file put in the watched 'In' folder on the desktop of a computer running OS 10.3.4 and having the ps file go to the 'Out' folder but no pdf file is produced?

Other times on my machine I have had some success with distilling a ps file that has been saved to a particular 'In' folder that has a certain setting attached to it. Some times it works while other times Distiller up and quits. Some times nothing happens with ps file that is sitting in the 'In' folder. Distiller just sits there waiting for something to happen.

Now the ps files are being generated from QuarkXPress PassPort 4.1 in Classic. I can allways get a pdf when I drag the ps file on to Distiller. Well almost all of the time. Some times I have restart my computer before it will work without crashing Distiller after launching Distiller several times.

Why eBooks and mobile devices don't (yet) pose an existential threat to the PDF

Continuous upheaval is what makes watching the technology industry so exciting. David vs. Goliath battles are waged every day, with startups often winning against much larger businesses. For years and years, many have predicted the decline of the PDF given its age and perceived disadvantages. Today, with the PDF losing ground in emerging areas like mobile and eBooks, the calls for its ultimate demise are growing louder.
