Topic: Reverse Bookmark Oddity

I wrote a small plug-in for Adobe in C++ that renumbers child bookmarks. For example if two bookmarks (Page 7, Page 8; where “Page X” is the bookmark name) are moved to be children they would be renamed (parent->{Page 1, Page 2}) This works wonderfully.

The problem arises when two or more additional bookmarks are moved to the top of the list. To continue with the above example, two more bookmarks are moved (Page 9, Page 10) to the top of the child list. This makes the new list (parent->{Page 10, Page 9, Page 1, Page2}), where the moved bookmarks are improperly in reverse order, which is then renumbered (parent->{Page 2, Page 1, Page 3, Page 4}). When I get the first child of the list it returns “Page 1”, so Adobe doesn’t realize that the list is in the wrong order. When the pdf is saved, closed and reopened the list displays in the proper order. This only happens when items are moved to the top of the list, if placed in the middle of the child list the renumbering works perfectly.

Does anyone know why this happens or any work-arounds? I saw some posts about reverse order bookmarks, but no solutions. I was thinking of something along the lines or refreshing the bookmark list, but I don’t even know if that’s possible. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thank you,
JW
