Topic: Cannot open files with japanese filename

I installed Adobe Reader 6.0, applied the 6.0.2 update and installed the Japanese Fonts.
When I try to open a .pdf with a japanese filename I get the following error:
"There was an error opening this document. The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."
If I rename this Japanese filename to an english filename, I can open the file just fine and view the Japanese characters in it. So I know the file contents are not corrupt.
Somehow reader cannot understand the multi byte file name..
Has anyone seen this issue and know how to remedy it?
thanks for any and all help...
