Topic: Converting CAD files to PDFs automatically

Hi. I tried to search answers to these questions but didn't actually find any clear answers so I hope someone could help me. I'm not familiar with AutoCAD products/files, I just need to find the best way to show CAD files from web page with browser and pdf conversion sounds very good because of free Acrobat Reader. I don't want to install any ActiveX components or other client programs.

The things I came up with are:

1) When you convert AutoCAD file (for example dwg) to vector pdf, are you still able to retain all the layers, named views and layouts in your pdf file? And I really mean all of them.

2) Can you open any exact layer or named view from your pdf file with Acrobat Reader from URL by giving some sort of parameters in URL? The same way you can open any layer/named view in ActiveX AutoCAD viewers by giving the wanted layer name as object parameter in html code.

3) Are there programs/components which you can call from your own scripts/programs to automatically convert dwgs to pdfs? Windows/Linux no matter. Any product names/links are very welcome.

I am also very interested to hear any experiences/problems you have had when converting dwgs to pdfs.

Thanks a lot!
-Mikko
