Topic: Embed SVG in PDFs (and the SVGAnnots plug-in) Conf: (P-PDF) Developers, Msg: 120397 From:Kontra Date: 10/16/2004 12:56 AM
I have a few questions regarding embedding SVG in PDFs (and the SVGAnnots plug-in) – I have played around with Leonard Rosenthol's SVGAnnots plug-in "SVGAnnots", which is a “magic” tool for embedding SVG into PDF.
Some background: Right now, I’m developing a SVG browser-based design application for “design your own print ..” online – roughly speaking, it’s similar to SVGDraw, but much more sophisticated, with effects and so on. Anyhow, instead of using a traditional browser (like IE or Netscape) and Adobe SVG plug-in, I’m interested to embed “the SVG Application” direct in Adobe Acrobat and leverage on the “ImageViewer” (the SVG plug-in shipped with Acrobat 6).
Questions regarding “SVGAnnots”: Programs like “Adobe Photo Album” and Kevin Lindsey's “SVG in PDF Perl script" use “alternate presentation slideshows” feature introduced in Acrobat 6 …
* Has anyone figured out how the SVGAnnot plug-in actually work – what is happening under the “hood” – does it leverage on App.media objects to embed SVG in PDF, or something else? Is “ImageViewer” a “player” or (just) a plug-in. I could no identify the “ImageViewer” among the “app.media.getPlayers()” (vnd.adobe.swname:MACR_FlashPlayer, ADBE_MCI Windows Built-In Player, RNWK_RealPlayer RealOne(tm), …).
Example – is this possible, somehow!?
SVG-file (within the ImageViewer):
From Acrobat: svgDoc.getElementById(“test”).setAttribute(“r”,20);
OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
