Topic: Suspected Bug - this.removeIcon() (Via Email)
Conf: (P-PDF) Acrobat 6.0, Msg: 121278

Whenever icons are removed from a PDF using the
"this.removeIcon()" method it appears that it only removes
the index for the icons and leaves the icon object in the doc.
i.e. the PDF file size remain unchanged even after a 'Save as".

When trying to use Optimizer to remove the remants of the icons
following the execution of a 'removeIcon' javaScript, Acrobat
encounters an error and crashes - 6.0.2 Windows 2000.

As a work around "Extracting" pages (even with a single page PDF)
seems to be the only solution to fully remove all icons without
any errors.

Any others have similar experience with this suspected ' bug' ?

For years and years, many have predicted the decline of the PDF given its age and perceived disadvantages. Today, with the PDF losing ground in emerging areas like mobile and eBooks, the calls for its ultimate demise are growing louder.
