I have a set of PDF documents, each of which contains bookmarks. I wanted to make each of those bookmarks a destination.
From my explorations on Planet PDF, I've learned that (a) it can't be done directly in Acrobat, (b) a third-party plug in called Name It is designed to create destinations from bookmarks, and (c) there's a "nameDest.ps" program on the Web that one can save as a text file and place in the Distiller start-up folder.
Regarding "b" above, I downloaded the Evaluation Version of the Name It application, but the command for creating destinations doesn't display. (I have sent an e-mail to Merlin OS, Name It's creator, regarding this problem.)
Regarding "c" above, I was finally able to locate the program on a German Website (thankfully, the program was in English, because even with 5 years of German in school, I'm rusty as all get-out); however, I was unable to make this work, either.
Finally, I noticed that when I right-click on a bookmark in the Navigation pane, a "Set Destination" command displays. When I checked the Help documentation for the Set Destination command, it pointed me to a page with information about what destinations are and how they are used. So I used this command to create a destination for each bookmark in my PDF files. But when I try to link to any of those destinations, I receive a message informing me that my target document has no destinations in it.
Am I completely misunderstanding the purpose of the "Set Destination" command?
(Sorry this posting is so long!!!)
