Hello,
I work for a press company. We process many newspapers for the area. We are a PDF flow system so our customers send us their newspaper pages as PDFs through an FTP Internet site. All black and white pages (PDFs) have to be converted to CMYK and grayscale in order to get through our system. We never have trouble with any PDFs except one of our customers can be converted to CMYK but NOT to grayscale. The moment we click to convert to grayscale, several pieces of artwork drop off the page.
We have been investigating but none of us have figured it out. There is one thing different about the PDFs of that customer: their original document is created in Adobe Pagemaker, the other thing is that their PDFs are encrypted. Could you help us solve this problem? Can you also tell us how to un-encrypt a PDF?
