I'm having problems with the rendering speed of
certain pdf files of data plots (i.e., lots of vectors).
The files render almost instantly using Acrobat 6 in
Windows XP, but, on Mac OS X.3, take a second or
two with Acrobat Reader 6.0.1, display slightly faster
with Acrobat 6.0.1 or Illustrator CS, and require ca.
five seconds with Acrobat Reader 5.0.5. The real
killer is that I need to use these files in Keynote for
presentations, but the native rendering engine in OS
X is slower still -- lags of 15+ seconds or so, a real
problem for real-time display. It's not an issue with
my hardware, because I have comparable plot files
that render quickly -- rather, it seems to be some bad
combination of the data in the file and the rendering
engine.
I've attached an example. Any explanation of the
behavior or suggestions for a fix would be greatly
appreciated.
