Topic: Creating one PDF from several files of various types

We have a PowerBuilder 8 application that generates PDF files to be sent to a document management system. Currently I only print reports from Powerbuilder. The method I have used to create the PDF file is to print the reports to postscript files by setting the printer to a postscript printer and specifying the files names, then concatenating the ps files and sending the result to the \in folder for distiller to create a pdf.

This has worked great up to now. The latest version of our application allows files of various types (word documents, jpg, tif, txt ) to be tied to the existing reports.

So the question is: Are there tools / controls available to automate the creation of a ps or pdf file from various file types?
