I wasn't aware they were discontinuing Content Server, but if that's the
case they're replacing it with Adobe LiveCycle Policy Server. You'll
want to investigate this product for your eBook security.

Standard Acrobat security (that you can apply using Acrobat 7 and other
various 3rd party tools) on it's own isn't really going to be an
effective method for stopping such things as users passing copies of
your eBook/s onto friends. Policy Server is more sophisticated and
allows you to lock a PDF down to a particular user, set document expiry
dates, etc.
