I have Adobe Acrobat 6 Standard. Installed Windows XP Service Pack 2 (big mistake). Now when I try to open Acrobat or open any PDF I get a Window installer window trying to install Messenger 5.0. Then it asks for the Windows Messenger 5.0 disk to complete installation (which doesn't exist). I cancel and cancel and cancel but the boxes just keep repeating. I have to turn off my computer to get rid of them.
I have uninstalled all adobe acrobat and reader from my computer and reinstalled. Didn't fix it and removed reader 5.1 which did still work. Now I can't open any pdf files at all.
I have gone to Microsoft and Adobe website forums and FAQ sections but have not found anything to fix this.
My computer guy says to reinstall windows with the SP2.
Any other suggestions? Anyone know what Adobe is doing about this?
