Topic: Programmatically read/write the XML embedded in PDF by Adobe Designer 6

Hi folks,

I am looking for a COM component that will allow me to programmatically ...

1. Read the embedded XML from a PDF file
2. Update (write back to) the embedded XML in a PDF file

... where the PDF file was generated in Adobe Designer 6.

Are there any tools available that will allow me to do this? I am fairly new to the world of PDF ... and have been presented with this requirement.

Basically I need to be able to feed my own data (programatically from my database) into the PDF before emailing it to a client for completion. Upon return of this document, I then need to extract the completed data for submission back into my database.
(The PDF files have been built in Adobe Designer 6.0 and "reader enabled" so that our clients can save the updated files when using Adobe Reader 6).

I would greatly appreciate some guidance on this topic.

PS : My development environment for this solution at present is Windows/VB6.

Adding a PDF Stamp Comment

OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
