Topic: image xobject in a form xobject - help please?

hi all

i'm working out some functionality in a PDF generator app i'm writing and i need some help.

i'm trying to add images to the documents; simple enough, and i have it working with a single instance of each image. however, i'd like to go the form xobject route to re-use an image and, well, i just can't make it happen.

PDFs i've exported from various apps, using a single image multiple times in the same doc, actually places multiple image xobjects in the documents - not a form xobject. :-(

the PDF spec docs (even the 1.6 version) only show simple vector drawing in a form xobject example.

i've tried various methods based on vague information found by googling, but nothing seems to work. i always get the dreaded "cannot find the XObject 'image1'"...

i'd relly just like to see an example of an image being used in this manner. (again, for clarity, an image [a HEX encoded JPG to be specific] used in a form xobject)

thoughts? examples?

thanks in advance!

Adding a PDF Stamp Comment

OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
